re: Innoakios?

This post is more a Meditation than anything, but I pray will be helpful.

I created a new character, and his name is Ioannikios. Ioannikios is the Greek version of the English name Jonah. Scripture tells us that Jonah was called of God to preach in Nineveh, which was a godless city during his life. Jonah attempted to "run away from God," which is always a mistake.

Here are some Scriptures of comfort, though!

"[Christ said,] 'Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?' And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures concerning himself.'"

                                         --St. Luke's Gospel, Chapter 24:26 - 27.

   (This is a long one!)

"Then answered Jesus and said unto [the people], 'Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel. For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will. For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the grave shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me. If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. Ye sent unto John [the Baptist], and he bare witness unto the truth. But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved. [St. John the Baptist] was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me. And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape. And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life. I receive not honour from men. But I know you, they ye have not the love of God in you. I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: If another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only? Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?'"

--St. John's Gospel, Chapter 5:19 - 47. [emphasis mine. I would emphasize almost the entire reference!!]

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the believer in God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works."

--St. Paul's Second Epistle to Timothy, Chapter 3:16 - 17.

"Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, 'Master, we would see a sign from thee.' But [Christ] answered and said unto them, 'An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three night in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repenteth at the preaching of Jonas; and behold, a greater than Jonas is here.'"

                                              --St. Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 12:38 - 41.

"The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desireth [Christ] that he would shew them a sign from heaven. He answered and said unto them, 'When it is evening, ye say, "It will be fair weather: for the sky is red." And in the morning, "It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering." O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times? A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas.' And he left them, and departed."

                                              --St. Matthew's Gospel, Chapter 16:1 - 4.

"And when the people were gathered thick together, [Christ] began to say, 'This is an evil generation: they seek a sign, and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet. For Jonas was a sign unto the Ninevites, so shall the Son of man be to this generation.'"

                                               --St. Luke's Gospel, Chapter 11:29 - 30.

I also chose the name Ioannikios because that was the name of a saint in the Orthodox Church.

This was a short prayer attributed to him:

"My hope is the Father, my refuge is the Son, my shelter is the Holy Spirit,

O Holy Trinity, Glory to you."

May God bless and inspire you today!

re: Innoakios?

I mistyped my character's name on this website, but luckily not in LOTRO. It is not "Innoakios," it is:

Ioannikios

Sorry on that.
